Unanimous AI created Swarm, the worlds first AI platform that amplifies the intelligence of business teams. In the run-up to Super Bowl LIII, Unanimous AI used its award winning Swarm platform to harness the combined intelligence of a lead agency and more than 100 strategists across North America to produce an AI-optimized forecast for the potential effectiveness of the 2019 Super Bowl commercials.

Out of the analyzed commercials, the study predicted Expensify, Pringles and Doritos to be some of the most talked-about Super Bowl ads for 2019.

Modeled after swarms in nature, Swarm technology combines the wisdom, intuition and intelligence of human populations with AI algorithms to create optimized insights. Unanimous AI delivers these insights to Fortune 500 companies for a range of applications, from forecasting sales to optimizing marketing campaigns.

For the Super Bowl advertising study, researchers used a special framework inspired by Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management ADPLAN rating system. The system was used to compare the effectiveness of advertisements that will be shown during the Super Bowl,assessing them on six criteria (attention, distinction, positioning, linkage, amplification and net equity) to determine their overall success.

The iterative process of ranking and sorting the advertisements culminated in a showdown between the Doritos “#NowItsHot” and Pringles “Sad Device” 30-second spots. In the end, the Doritos collaboration between Chance the Rapper and the Backstreet Boys was given the highest grade of the day, and deemed the most likely to generate post-game “buzz.”
