WASHINGTON, Oct. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, UNCF (United Negro College Fund) and Nissan North America announced a new scholarship program for students from Fisk University and Tennessee State. This award is the latest in Nissan's long-standing history of supporting diversity and inclusion by providing scholarships to students attending historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

The Nissan Scholars Program is available to sophomores and juniors and will provide a total of four $5,000 scholarships for two students attending Fisk University and two students attending Tennessee State majoring in business, computer science or engineering. Additionally, the four students will have the opportunity to engage with Nissan leadership through summer internship opportunities and on-campus informational sessions.

According to a landmark study commissioned by UNCF, Fisk University and Tennessee State are valuable economic engines in their community, collectively generating $507 million in total economic impact, and 4,192 in jobs for the state of Tennessee.
