The new Personal Accident and Medical Insurance plan was developed to help protect against the financial hardship that can follow after an accident.

Personal Accident and Medical Insurance plan can be a great stand-alone policy for individuals and families, or it can complement Major Medical or Short Term health plan coverage.

Personal Accident and Medical Insurance plan is designed to cover medical and everyday living expenses incurred as a result of an accidental injury. The plan covers both on and off the job injuries.

“Accidents happen and even with medical insurance the extra costs from an accidental injury can be a financial burden. When an accidental injury occurs, health insurance will pay for some of the costs, but deductibles and copays can easily total thousands of out-of-pocket dollars. Other costs, such as your mortgage and daily living expenses, which are not covered by a health insurance policy, can quickly accumulate,” explained Bob Dial, Vice President/Chief Compliance Officer,United Security Health and Casualty Insurance Company (USH&C).

“USH&C’s Personal Accident and Medical Insurance plan is designed to cover medical and everyday living expenses incurred as a result of an accidental injury. This product can be a great stand-alone policy for individuals and families, or it can complement a Major Medical or Short Term health plan coverage,” remarked Dial.

The Personal Accident and Medical Insurance plan covers both on and off the job injuries. The plan is a guaranteed issue, with no medical questions to answer, and an easy online application to complete. The issue ages are 18-74 for the primary insured. A child under the age of 18 may apply with a parent. The plan ends at age 75. Based on their needs, the individual can select the plan’s Annual Benefit Maximum, which represents the total dollar amount available for covered services rendered each calendar year. Annual Benefit Maximum amounts range between $2,500 and $10,000 for a covered accident

With a deductible of only $100, plan holders will quickly start receiving cash benefits. The plan will pay up to the maximum benefit for a covered accident with limits for certain services. The Personal Accident and Medical Insurance plan allows the individual to decide how to use the cash benefit they will receive. Cash benefits for medical and recovery expenses can be applied to cover expenses for ambulance; rehabilitative therapy, durable medical equipment, as well as transportation to and from doctor appointments and other home care costs.

Dial concluded, “At the core of USH&C’s vision is our commitment to continually analyze market conditions and respond by developing products that can address the needs of the public. With the rising cost of health care, it became apparent that a product was needed that would specifically relieve some of the financial burden that can result following an accident. Our new Personal Accident and Medical Insurance plan is an affordable product that achieves that goal.”
