Unitek to Become the First National Caring Science Academic-Clinical Affiliate of Watson Caring Science Institute

By accepting this invitation, Unitek Learning has identified themselves as the nation’s leading academic-clinical program.

The future of nursing education requires a strong partnership between academia and healthcare. Unitek Learning continually seeks to build a bridge between the two. Their commitment has been nationally recognized as the inaugural National Caring Science Academic-Clinical Affiliate of the Watson Caring Science Institute (WCSI). This designation distinguishes Unitek Learning as a national leader, highlighting their success in creating and implementing a Caring Science curriculum for aspiring nurses.

“The invitation is based on Unitek’s status as one of the pioneering Caring Science Educational-Clinical programs in the country,” said Dr. Stephanie Robinson, Regional Associate Dean of the BSN Program in Fremont and Bakersfield. “It demonstrates Unitek Learning’s commitment to standards of excellence, to implement new visions of caring science, and to serve as a national exemplar for education and practice.”

Caring Science Theory is the foundation of Unitek’s nursing curriculum and continues to shape the future of Unitek Learning. This educational approach expounds on the boldness needed to nurture the practice of human caring in an ever-changing world. Nurse legend Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, LL (AAN), Distinguished Professor and Founder/Director of Watson Caring Science Institute, perseveres in her continued mission to restore the profound nature of caring-healing within healthcare systems worldwide.

"It is my honor to invite Unitek to be nationally recognized and identified as a National Caring Science Academic-Clinical Affiliate,” said Dr. Watson. “This designation distinguishes Unitek Learning and its clinical partners as a national leader in creating and implementing a caring science curriculum not only for educating nurses, but also within professional practice for the public, in full collaboration with clinical agencies.”

They demonstrate new and authentic visons of Caring Science education, scholarship, and practice. Moreover, this national designation affirms that their curriculums are informed by the discipline of nursing. Some of the Caring Science criteria to which Unitek stands for includes courses with human caring/Caritas™Processes; students with opportunities to integrate theory-guided modalities; and a culture with caring for faculty, students, and staff.
