Unlike the Fearsome Hunters of the Seas, Humans Cannot Replace Their Teeth So Great Care Must Be Taken, Says Dr. Bostani's Advanced Dental
Burbank based Dr. Bostani's Advanced Dental comments on a recent article that, unlike sharks, people must take great care of their teeth if they want to have bright and healthy smiles indefinitely.
BURBANK, Calif., May 6, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A March 16 article on World Atlas explains how many species of shark can quickly replace their teeth, often in less than 24 hours. Great White sharks, for example, only have about 50 teeth, many of which tend to fall out each time the shark feeds. However, their ability to quickly replace teeth allows these sharks to have a virtually perfect set of teeth at any given time. Burbank based Dr. Bostani's Advanced Dental says that while sharks have quite impressive capacities regarding their chompers, humans must take great care of the teeth they have because no natural replacements are lying in wait.
Dr. Bostani's Advanced Dental says that taking care of one's teeth starts with practicing good brushing and flossing techniques, adding that dental hygiene routines should start about 30 minutes after each meal. The center says that while it might seem smart to brush immediately after eating, this can actually be harmful because acids and sugars from drinks and foods tend to demineralize the enamel of one's teeth. It takes about 15 to 30 minutes for that enamel to harden up again, at which point teeth are ready to be thoroughly cleaned for about two minutes.
The dental center says another trick for brushing is to avoid rinsing their mouth right after brushing. Patients should spit out all their excess toothpaste, but a total rinse prevents teeth from being able to absorb the helpful qualities of the toothpaste. Instead, the center continues, patients should avoid drinking, eating, or – perhaps with some exceptions for certain types of rinses -- using a mouth wash for another 30 minutes or so to make the most out of each brushing session. This may make morning routines a little more tedious, but the bright and healthy smile patients find as a reward will make all the extra time well worth it. As a side note, Dr. Bostani's Advanced Dental does say that a mouth wash may be able to reach spots that are not normally reachable with floss or a toothbrush.
Dr. Bostani's Advanced Clinic says that patients can certainly do a lot at home to make sure their teeth are healthy, but professional assistance is also an important part of the equation. The center says that a routine checkup about twice a year can make sure no ailments are developing. On the other hand, if there is a problem immediate treatment can often save patients a lot of pain, time, and money they might have otherwise spent had a dentist not been there to spot the problem developing. The Burbank dental center says that outside of injuries, it's rare for ailments to pop up overnight so visiting a dentist is a great way to catch developing problems before they have a chance to fester into something severe.
Above all, the dental center says that by maintaining good hygiene practices and visiting a dentist when appropriate, patients can enjoy excellent dental health just like their carnivorous, aquatic peers.
