Unlikely Adventures of Mystery and Intrigue, Designed for Young Readers
Husband and wife writing duo have published their first book together, inspired by former student
APPLE VALLEY, Calif. , July 5, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Retired school teacher Leo M. Janzen and his wife, Joyce Feldman, have teamed up to write a story for young readers. Inspired by a former student of Janzen's, "Nikkie: A Stowaway in an Old Bed and Breakfast Inn" tells the story of a young girl and her unlikely adventure of secret passages and hidden treasure in a mysterious inn.
Nikkie is a young girl who lives with her grandmother, who is confined to a wheelchair and wishes for an electric wheelchair for more freedom. Wishing for a kind of freedom of her own, Nikki is bored of school and procrastinating on her homework when she's drawn to the Spurs 'n' Lace Inn across the street from her house. Little does Nikki know of the adventure that lies ahead after she sneaks into the Inn one evening.
"I had a lot of students like Nikkie;" Janzen said "students who daydream or procrastinate. We wrote the book to show the importance of being responsible, helping others and, of course, that you should always do your homework."
The book also features a special nod to the authors. The Spurs 'n' Lace Inn is based off a bed and breakfast that they own together, the Spurs n Lace B&B.
Janzen and Feldman hope that readers enjoy "Nikkie" and take the core message of the story to heart, of behaving responsibility and caring for others.
