SAN RAFAEL, Calif., July 6, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- US Sports Camps, the official provider of Nike Sports Camps, today announces the launch of the Play Without Limits Project, an initiative that seeks to increase access to sports and educational opportunities by providing athletes ages 8 to 18 with summer camp scholarships. Play Without Limits Project removes barriers that can prevent students from enhancing their athletic skills, improving their sportsmanship and connecting with their peers.
One hundred full-tuition scholarships have been awarded for the inaugural 2022 season, with designs to roll out the initiative more broadly and reach more kids and teens in the future.
The first class of recipients received scholarships to one of eight participating Nike Basketball Camps in Chicago and New York City. Next year, US Sports Camps plans to expand the program, offering scholarships for a wider variety of sports camps across more locations. US Sports Camps made the initial financial contribution to kickstart the program, and will contribute annually moving forward.
"We're thrilled to launch the Play Without Limits Project and provide young athletes with an opportunity to advance their skills under the guidance of some of the nation's top coaches," says Justin Hoeveler, CEO of US Sports Camps. "The 2022 season is only the beginning. We are absolutely committed to increasing access to sports instruction and connection, and continue to allow more kids to play without limits."
Partners expand impact of Play Without Limits
Applications are handled by America's Charities https://www.charities.org/, the clearinghouse overseeing finances and scholarship criteria for the program. The initiative is also supported by Next College Student Athlete https://www.ncsasports.org/, which will provide 100 campers free access to their most comprehensive college recruiting package, and Gatorade, which made a $50,000 financial contribution. Staff at the New York City and Chicago chapters of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America helped identify camp locations and scholarship candidates.
"Boys & Girls Club professionals from Madison Square Boys & Girls Clubs (NYC) and the Union League Club of Chicago are playing a pivotal role in providing Club kids with this fantastic opportunity. We're proud to support the Play Without Limits Project and give our kids access to engaging athletic programs, experienced mentors and safe places to be themselves," says Frank Sanchez, vice president of corporate and partner relationships at Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Scholarship applications for the 2023 cohort will open on Feb. 1, 2023. Interested parents, coaches and athletes can visit Play Without Limits Project Scholarship https://www.cognitoforms.com/AmericasCharities/PlayWithoutLimitsProjectScholarship for more information about the application process.
