US Oral Surgery Management Collaborates with OMS Foundation: Helps Non-Profit Reach Fund-Raising Milestone
U.S. Oral Surgery Management is proud to announce its support of the OMS Foundation, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit that strives to improve the quality and safety of patient care by fueling innovation in oral and maxillofacial surgery research, training and education.
IRVING, Texas, June 5, 2019 U.S. Oral Surgery Management (USOSM)– a specialty management services company that serves premier oral and maxillofacial surgeons – is proud to announce its support of the OMS Foundation, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit that strives to improve the quality and safety of patient care by fueling innovation in oral and maxillofacial surgery research, training and education.
Since 1959 the OMS Foundation has facilitated the discovery of new knowledge in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery by supporting research; and it has provided platforms for the specialty's most respected experts to educate their colleagues. The Foundation also works with the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) to support a variety of education opportunities for oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS) residents and provides financial assistance to promising early-career academics. In addition, in 2018 the OMS Foundation launched the Global Initiative for Volunteerism and Education (GIVE), offering travel stipends to residents traveling internationally with OMS teams to deliver humanitarian healthcare to communities in need.
"The OMS Foundation does so much to help oral and maxillofacial surgeons and their patients, and we're honored to support them," states Richard Hall, USOSM president and CEO. "Everything they do goes toward one goal: advancing oral and maxillofacial surgery for surgeons and their patients."
USOSM has pledged to be a matching corporate sponsor for the OMS Foundation, providing significant financial support during the current fund-raising campaign.
"We're proud to welcome USOSM as a major corporate donor and partner in our 2019 fund-raising efforts," says Dr. Kathy Banks, OMS Foundation chair. "USOSM's $25,000 gift-match challenge in May offered a powerful incentive to the OMS community to give now, and give generously. With USOSM's help, we raised more than $100,000 in one month to support the mission and programs of the Foundation. In partnership with corporate supporters like USOSM we are generating the resources needed to address our specialty's most pressing issues and lay the groundwork for the continued evolution of oral and maxillofacial surgery."
According to Dr. Banks, the Foundation is "driven by a shared passion and vision for the future." Dr. Colin Bell echoes this sentiment, saying: "I believe in the OMS Foundation and in its vision for the future. Giving to the Foundation helps me to recognize those who gave before me, and it supports research and education that is vital to the ongoing and continued success of our specialty."
Dr. Bell is a surgeon with Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas and the chief clinical officer of USOSM. He also holds leadership positions with a number of professional organizations and is a dedicated supporter of the OMS Foundation, which he says works in concert with oral and maxillofacial surgeons throughout the country and beyond to "advance the OMS specialty through innovative research, practice and education." This helps ensure OMS patients continue to receive the highest quality and most advanced care possible.
"When you support the Foundation, you're supporting the industry as a whole. You're helping to ensure that oral and maxillofacial surgeons provide their patients with the absolute best care possible, which is our ultimate goal," adds Dr. B.D. Tiner of Alamo Maxillofacial Surgical Associates, a USOSM partner practice. Dr. Tiner is the vice president of AAOMS and a former OMS Foundation board member. He remains active with the Foundation today as a donor and volunteer.
