USAA Sponsors Plug and Play’s FinTech Accelerator
Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) December 16, 2014 -- USAA is sponsoring and participating in Plug and Play’s newest program, Plug and Play FinTech, to engage with startups aligning with USAA’s developing technology initiatives. Plug and Play FinTech is a startup accelerator bringing together a round-table of complementary partners to guide the direction of the program and help decide which startups are accepted.
“We are excited to have an opportunity to work with a leading insurance and financial services organization, enabling startups in the program to leverage their deep industry knowledge and expertise. USAA's perspective and advice helps shape our investment strategy in the financial technology space,” said Plug and Play CEO and Founder Saeed Amidi. “With their guidance, we will look to invest $25,000 to $100,000 in up to 30 financially focused startups from around the world.”
The FinTech Accelerator is a 12-week program designed for early and growth stage startups. Qualified companies are developing solutions in such areas as Insurance Services, Payments as a Service, Mobile Payments, Payment Security, Remittance, Storage, Financial Analysis & Management, Identity & Compliance and Lending.
Through tailored deal flow, themed workshops, and face-to-face interaction, Plug and Play FinTech enables corporations to engage with startups that align with current business areas or create new potential revenue streams. Startups accepted into the program receive funding from Plug and Play Ventures, weekly mentor sessions with industry thought-leaders, and opportunities for potential pilot projects, all culminating at the Plug and Play quarterly demo day.
"USAA looks for opportunities to work with innovative companies to gain early access to innovations and emerging capabilities that can help USAA serve our members. By working with Plug and Play and their vast network of like minded partners, we believe that we can further accelerate the development of new products and services that could benefit our members,” says Alex Marquez, USAA Managing Director.
Scott Robinson, Co-Founder and FinTech Director, says: "We're excited to be looking at early stage and up to growth stage startups, as we appreciate the innate requirement for robust security and vetted, developed solutions to be enrolled within financial institutions looking at new technologies. Through our program, we will be sourcing startups aimed at providing data-driven innovations in areas like risk management and exposure, payment security and insurance services."
