USTDA Sponsoring Morocco Solar Photovoltaic Reverse Trade Mission, Fostering U.S. Company Participation in the Growth of Morocco’s Solar Energy Infrastructure
Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 28, 2014 -- In support of the development and expansion of its solar energy infrastructure, twelve senior decision makers from the Moroccan solar sector will participate in a Reverse Trade Mission (RTM) to Colorado and California from June 8 to June 18, 2014, sponsored by the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA).
The Kingdom of Morocco has ambitious plans to use its solar resources to achieve 6 GW of installed capacity from renewable energy resources by 2020. To meet this goal, Morocco launched a $12.4 billion utility-scale solar power plant investment program. Solar power generation projects are well underway, with five sites identified for implementation of large-scale projects utilizing CSP and PV technologies, and others at various stages of planning. In May 2013, the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN) started construction of a 160MW solar power plant near Ouarzazate, southeast of Marrakesh, at an estimated cost of $860 million. Further expansions could bring the plant capacity to 500MW. Completion of the first phase is set for this year.

The RTM will connect Moroccan solar sector decision makers with U.S. solar technology providers, EPCs and financial organizations to forge partnerships for future solar project implementation in Morocco. U.S. companies are being encouraged to participate in this RTM through:
• Attending the business briefing and networking reception in San Francisco on Tuesday, June 10;
• Hosting the delegation at their facilities in Colorado or California to discuss their expertise and capabilities; and/or,
• Sponsoring the networking reception, business briefing, or a private meal with the delegates.
