Business students at UT Dallas' Jindal School of Management are now required to fulfill social engagement and community service requirements in order to earn their degree. Dallas nonprofit and global service learning provider, Bright Light Volunteers, chosen as an approved partner to provide opportunities to fulfill new social engagement requirements.
DALLAS, Sept. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Bright Light Volunteers joins UTD Jindal OutReach in its commitment to provide Jindal School undergraduate students opportunities that enable them to use their skills and time to REACH OUT AND REACH OTHERS.
In keeping with the Naveen Jindal School of Management's mission providing innovative education and graduating well-rounded citizens whose education has prepared them for rewarding, productive lives in a constantly changing world, the Jindal School enriched their undergraduate curriculum with the addition of a social engagement requirement in fall of 2018. This social engagement requirement will enhance student's education by giving them the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in practical settings. Assisting in community endeavors will enhance understanding of class materials and foster personal and social skill development while strengthening bonds in the community.
As part of Bright Light Volunteers' commitment to promote the mission of UTD Jindal's OutReach program they have committed to provide social engagement opportunities for students that will:
- Enhance community-university relations by maintaining the Jindal School vision of a strong synergistic partnership within the DFW community by providing service and support to the community while promoting a spirit of public-mindedness and bringing new energy and perspectives to community work.
- Grow students' professionalism by increasing leadership and teamwork skills while building connections with professionals and community members and adding unique community experiences to their professional resumes.
- Enrich students' personal development and interpersonal skills by increasing communication, accountability, and cultural competency while improving social responsibility.
- Produce well-rounded students who demonstrate a complex understanding of problem solving, critical thinking and the ability to work collectively to address common societal issues.
