In a new interview with C.M. Rubin, Founder of CMRubinWorld, Vanja Kaludjercic, Director of The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), explains that technology has always been a key ingredient of IFFR. "Over a decade ago we started with our first online screenings, back when people were still using modems!" she notes.
Kaludjercic says the festival has launched IFFR Live and IFFR Unleashed in hopes of "exploring new ways to reach wider audiences." These digital products allow them to stream premieres from Rotterdam to cinemas and platforms across the world. The festival is further advancing existing models and creating new products to help them reach and expand to new audiences. Digital innovation will continue. Kaludjercic notes that these solutions are not a short term solution for COVID19, but "function as complementary building blocks alongside the festival's traditional output."
