HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Oct. 26, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Vector Wealth Strategies raised more than $30,000 in scholarships for local college-bound high school seniors during its fifth annual Casino Night held at The Ledges in late August. The event launches the year-long fundraising campaign for the Vector Community Scholars Fund. Vector started the fund in 2016 and has raised more than $240,000. To date, 20 students have received scholarships.
"We had an excellent turnout and with the generosity and support of our clients the entire evening was a success," Kelly Moise, VWS senior partner and Community Scholars Fund coordinator, said. "The scholars we select all have amazing talents and career goals. It is our mission to continue to impact the lives of even more students."
The fun evening always includes a costume theme. Previously attendees have dressed like members of the Rat Pack, James Bond and Wild West characters and in Mardi Gras fare. This year attendees were dressed as pirates from Treasure Island.
During the evening each guest is given chips to play with upon entering, guests may also donate cash for additional play chips. Half of the money raised each year goes to students whose parents or grandparents work in the local defense industry and the other half to students heading to college as a result of their participation in the CAP & GOWN Project, a program that focuses on making college a reality for underprivileged students attending high school in Madison County.
This year's event was sponsored by several local businesses including Marriott, Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and Gunter's Landing. Silent auction items were donated from local companies to help support the event. Items included date night and golf packages, tickets to a non-SEC Alabama home game as well as spa packages and overnight hotel stays.
"As one of our major philanthropic commitments, Casino Night helps future generations achieve career goals and return to the community to live out their dreams," Jay Dryden, VWS managing partner, said. The firm strives to build up the leaders of tomorrow and replace themselves over time with the philanthropic funders of the future.
