The Law Office of Rodney K. Okano has been committed to not only helping accident victims attain compensation for their injuries, but also helping to support the community by emphasizing the value of education.
The Working Student Scholarship has had the primary job of aiding students who are able to maintain a B average while also working to support themselves. Awarding such students the scholarship award of $1000, The Law Office of Rodney K. Okano is proud to assist some of the most dedicated and deserving students enrolled in college.
For 2019, applicants were asked to challenge the education system and examine it by defining a flaw in the system and suggesting one change that would help students find a balance between maintaining their high grades as well as employment. Its purpose is also to find the value in certain aspects of our current system that should be emphasized and bolstered.
This year's recipient, Latasha Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada, holds a Bachelor's Degree and is currently an elementary school teacher who is dedicated to continuing her education with an emphasis in science and engineering. Ms. Davis submitted an impressive essay highlighting the value the arts, such as drawing, painting and music, have upon our youth. She has witnessed the positive influence that the arts have had on her students and herself, and her essay was matched with an impressive grade point average.
Founder Rodney Okano states, "We're proud to help hard working students thrive in school and if we can lift even a portion of the financial burden from their shoulders, we're happy to do so."
