Venture Construction Group of Florida Sponsors Marco Island Boxing Event
MARCO ISLAND, Fla. (PRWEB) May 15, 2018 -- Venture Construction Group of Florida (VCGFL) sponsored the “Frank Gervin Memorial Boxing Show” held by the Marco Island Boxing Club (MIBC). The first match was held Jan. 28 at the JW Marriott in Marco Island. Event proceeds benefitted the MBIC Youth Group. The MBIC is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhance the future of the youth through sport and the art of Olympic Style Boxing.
The annual “Frank Gervin Memorial Boxing Show” draws amateur boxers from all over the world. Featured participants included boxers from Ireland, Florida and New Jersey. Each year, a trophy is presented to one boxer in honor of Frank Gervin. The event included bagpipes, opening National Anthem sung by Mary Jo Worley O’Regan, a variety of boxing matches of various age and weight classes including a female round, and a silent auction featuring sports memorabilia.

Through annual fundraising events and the support of the community, MIBC promotes the sport of amateur boxing and provides an opportunity for the youth of Marco Island to enhance their life skills. MIBC provides youth boxing programs for males and females ages 8-16. Full training includes proper stance and defensive drills, jumping rope, shadow boxing, running and mitt work which involves learning punch combinations and slipping, ducking and pivoting.
