Originally from Chicago, Sallie received her bachelor's degree in journalism from Indiana University. Upon graduation, she worked for two years as a newspaper reporter in Central Indiana, then moved to South Florida, one of the most competitive news markets in the country. Sallie subsequently spent more than 20 years combined covering crime, breaking news and city government at the Palm Beach Post and the Sun Sentinel.
After leaving daily journalism, Sallie worked for years in corporate communications and marketing, with stints at a law firm, a major automotive company and a large non-profit organization. She also freelanced as a stringer for C-SPAN and has written for a variety of community newspapers.
Sallie is an avid community volunteer who currently serves as a Guardian ad Litem for the 17th Circuit and is the proud mother of college-age twins.
