Truong came to America in 1983, moved to Gastonia in 1990 and graduated from Belmont Abbey College with a bachelor's degree in business management. She joined the United States Navy and served as a Recruiter for three years and then worked as a Deputy Disbursing Officer. She was deployed to the Mediterranean twice. Truong left the service in 2005 and joined the Navy Reserves in 2006, where she worked as a Builder with the Civil Engineering and Building Unit until she retired from the service. She is fluent in Vietnamese and Khmer, a language primarily spoken in Cambodia.
Hester is a disabled veteran – he served in the United States Navy and worked in intelligence. While he was growing up, Hester had two major career influences: his dad was a business manager and his stepdad was a contractor and home builder. Hester tried to start his own home care business when he was in his mid-20s, but eventually found himself back in business management. He sees TruBlue as the perfect combination of his influences and the business he tried to build years ago. Truong and Hester are both excited to also have a new opportunity to serve the community in a new way.
