NEW YORK, Nov. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Throughout the month of November over 500 veteran volunteers will lead service efforts across the country in celebration of Veterans Day. The veterans are volunteers with The Mission Continues, a nonprofit organization that empowers veterans to continue their service and empowers communities with veteran talent, skills and preparedness to generate visible impact.
The multi-week Veterans Day campaign will further spread the value of service to veterans and communities with over 60 veteran-led events across the country focused on building stronger communities and connecting veterans. The community-based projects are in partnership with schools, public parks, youth organizations, homeless shelters, refugee centers and more. Throughout the month, veterans, community leaders, and corporate partners will team up to build, restore, and connect with each other and the communities in which they serve.
"Veterans Day provides us an opportunity to not only celebrate the selflessness of those in our country who have worn a military uniform, but to honor their continued service in communities across the country." said Mary Beth Bruggeman, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and president of The Mission Continues. "We're creating a movement of veterans who are leading the way in building stronger communities and creating long term, positive impact."
Hundreds of community organizations, corporate partners, and non-veteran volunteers will join forces with the veteran-led service groups for the campaign. The service projects will take place in the 56 cities where The Mission Continues operates, including San Francisco, Richmond, Oahu, San Antonio and Boston. In Richmond, veterans will team up with CarMax employees and community members at the Peter Paul Development Center. Throughout the day, volunteers will paint classrooms, conduct community garden clean-up and repairs, and help beautify the center through landscaping, planting, and painting.
This month of service is made possible with support from campaign sponsors BAE Systems and CarMax. Veterans Day is just one example of the many opportunities to serve with The Mission Continues. Veteran volunteers are leading long-term local impact year-round in communities across the country.
