Semper Cares Initiative provides veterans and their families help in handling high energy costs with major home improvements like solar panel installation free of charge.

After being moved by Robert’s story, Semper Solaris has chosen the local San Diegan as the 2021 Semper Solaris Cares Initiative recipient for this upcoming Memorial Day event. He will be receiving solar panels free of cost, drastically reducing his electricity bills for life.

It was 1968, and Robert Blumenstock quickly found himself deployed directly to the heart of the bloody Tet Offensive. Overwhelmed, but unwavering, Robert rushed to help the wounded, performed on-the-spot fabrication of prosthetic devices, aided with emergency oral surgery, and provided forensic identifications of fellow Marines killed in action. Unfortunately, like many other of his fellow Marines in Vietnam, Robert has health complications related to his service.

Never to be discouraged and a humanitarian at heart, Robert participated in numerous Civic Action programs in Vietnam; including visiting small villages and hamlets to treat injured Vietnamese civilians. Robert also went on to serve two years in the Peace Corps. His services included teaching dental technology to the people of Kenya and dangerously flying into remote areas of Tanzania to help treat debilitated tribespeople.

Mr. Blumenstock’s military awards include: The Navy Achievement Award w/combat valor device, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Award w/Fleet Marine device, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Valor Cross, and Civil Action medal.
