BOSTON, Feb. 19, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- VHS Learning (VHS, Inc.) will be opening registration for its summer 2020 courses the first week of March. Online summer classes are an excellent opportunity to earn credit, or to learn something new for enrichment. VHS Learning summer courses give students more scheduling flexibility during the school year by helping them receive credit for courses such as physical education, during the summer months.
VHS Learning's summer program offers core math, science, history and English courses as well as a variety of electives for enrichment such as digital photography, personal finance, neuroscience, and cryptography – all offered entirely online.
This summer, VHS Learning is offering a new four-week computer science course titled Creative Programming with JavaScript Summer Offering. Developed in partnership with coding platform provider Vidcode, the course introduces novice coders to basic JavaScript via drag-and-drop blocks and helps them gradually progress toward text-based programming. Creative Programming is aligned to the 2017 CSTA level 1B standards, which range from simple sequencing of commands through variables and arrays to nested loops and conditionals. Students practice using these programming concepts in creative projects that emphasize self-expression, positive identity, and helping others.
The VHS Learning summer school program is available to students in grades 7 through 12, and offers more than 50 online courses for credit recovery, enrichment and course credit. Courses are instructor-led and NCAA-approved, and are offered in one 8-week and two four-week sessions. The 8-week and first four-week session begins June 17th, and the second four-week session begins July 20th.
"Summer classes are a wonderful opportunity for students to catch up on concepts they missed during the school year, get ahead in their studies, and explore unique topics of interest," said Carol Ribeiro, President & CEO of VHS Learning. "Since VHS Learning summer courses are conducted entirely online and can be accessed at any time, day or night, students can hold summer jobs and meet other summer commitments and still accomplish their academic goals. Our courses provide students with the flexibility they need to make summer both enjoyable and productive."
