VHS Learning Earns Accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges
Regional accreditation agency for western and international schools recognizes VHS Learning as a quality program meeting rigorous accreditation criteria.
BOSTON, March 3, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- VHS Learning, a nonprofit organization helping schools provide their students with robust online and blended learning, today announced that it has been granted accreditation by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC). ACS WASC provides accreditation to schools primarily in California, Hawaii, Guam, and internationally. VHS Learning also holds accreditation with Middles States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA-CESS) and Cognia.
ACS WASC is one of six regional accrediting agencies in the United States and works closely with the Office of Overseas Schools under the U.S. Department of State. Accreditation is a mark of a high-quality program and is awarded to schools that meet the ACS WASC criteria and have a history and support system indicating future sustainability of the program.
VHS Learning was the first national program in the United States to provide supplemental online courses for high school students. The program connects teachers and students from around the world to expand learning opportunities. VHS Learning partners with all types of schools, helping to expand their programs of study and enabling students to explore possible college and career paths. Students choose from more than 220 unique online courses, including 24Advanced Placement® (AP®) options, core courses, engaging electives, credit recovery, and other learning opportunities.
To attain accreditation, VHS Learning participated in a self-study of its capacity, commitment, and competence to support high-quality student learning and ongoing school improvement. Accreditation is integral to a school's perpetual cycle of assessment, planning, implementation, and monitoring of student achievement. ACS WASC Accreditation encourages school improvement through a process of continual evaluation of rigorous criteria to support successful student learning and school-wide student goals.
"ACS WASC Accreditation, as well as our accreditation through MSA-CESS and Cognia, affirms our commitment to offering students the highest quality online learning experiences," said Carol Ribeiro, President & CEO of VHS Learning. "Our programs make it possible for students to explore academic options that might not otherwise be available to them. This accreditation helps underscore the value VHS Learning places on continuous improvement, and helps introduce our program to students in new geographic areas who may be searching for more course choices."
