On the heels of being recognized as a Great Place to Work, luxury retirement community owner and operator, Vi®, has been honored with a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award, recognizing the Best Places to Work in 2019. The Employees’ Choice Awards program, now in its 11th year, is based solely on the input of employees, who elect to provide feedback on their jobs, work environments and companies on Glassdoor, one of the world’s largest job and recruiting sites. Vi ranked 53 out of 100 companies recognized on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work U.S. large employer list.
“In today’s tight labor market, job seekers are in the driver’s seat when it comes to deciding where to work and they want to know the inner workings of a company before accepting a new job. To help people find the best jobs and the best companies, the Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards recognize employers at the top of their game,” said Dr. Andrew Chamberlain, Glassdoor Chief Economist. “For employers, we know that a satisfied and engaged workforce helps drive financial performance. Glassdoor Best Places to Work winners are strategically investing in company culture, career growth opportunities and more, which also serves as a major recruiting advantage.”
“We are honored and proud to be recognized among so many fine organizations,” said Randy Richardson, President, Vi Senior Living. “Feedback from our employees drives us to create an inspiring and meaningful work environment. We continually aspire to be an employer-of-choice with a special commitment to helping our employees grow and thrive,” he added.
“Our focus on employee growth sets us apart,” said Judy Whitcomb, SVP- HR and Learning. We want a career with Vi to be one of meaning—where our team members can work with our accomplished residents, and also learn, grow, and expand their professional skills. By investing in and celebrating our employees, we ensure that our communities are great places to both work and live,” she adds.
Vi’s best-in-class training and development resources include tuition reimbursement, a 24-hour online university, and Rosetta Stone language training. These programs are a key component of Vi’s robust employee benefits program.
On Glassdoor, current and former employees voluntarily and anonymously share insights and opinions about their work environments by sharing a company review, designed to capture a genuine and authentic inside look at what a specific job may be like at a particular company. When sharing a company review on Glassdoor, employees are asked to rate their satisfaction with the company overall, and key workplace factors like career opportunities, compensation and benefits, culture and values, senior management and work/life balance. In addition, employees are asked to describe the best reasons to work at their companies as well as any downsides.
Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work were determined using company reviews shared by U.S.-based employees between October 23, 2017 and October 21, 2018. To be considered for the large category, a company must have had at least 1,000 or more employees and have received at least 75 ratings across each of the eight workplace attributes from U.S.-based employees during the period of eligibility. The final list is compiled using Glassdoor’s proprietary algorithm, led by its Economic Research Team, and takes into account quantity, quality and consistency of reviews.
