Victims of Calloway Cove Apartment Fire Receive New Beds From Ashley HomeStore
26 new beds were donated to victims of Calloway Cove Apartment fire.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The City of Jacksonville reached out to Ashley HomeStore to assist with new beds for the victims of the July Calloway Cove fire through the local company's Hope to Dream™ program. While the Hope to Dream™ program specifically serves children in need, Ashley HomeStore stepped up with an additional donation of complete bed sets for the adults also impacted by the fire. On Monday, September 9, 2019, 26 new beds were delivered at no cost to the Calloway Cove residents.
"We are grateful to the City of Jacksonville for reaching out to us to help these families," said Tori Fusinaz, Director of Marketing for Ashley HomeStore/Jacksonville. "Quality sleep in a safe bed is critical for these individuals to heal, as well as for the children to grow and thrive as they move forward after such a devastating event. These families lost everything; the least we can do is make sure they have a comfortable place to sleep."
Ashley HomeStore's donation, valued at over $15,000, also included Jacksonville Jaguar-themed bedding for each child's bed sets thanks to a partnership with the Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation.
Jaguars Foundation Senior Vice President, Peter Racine, stated, "Through the Jaguars Foundation's partnership with Ashley HomeStores' Hope to Dream program, we see first-hand the incredible generosity of this company for our community's children; so it was not surprising that the Ashley HomeStores management and employees immediately recognized enormity and complexity involved in the July Calloway Cove fire and stepped-up to provide needed beds for the parents and grandparents as well. This generous gift is another step in the recovery effort and healing process for these families."
The July 2019 apartment fire displaced dozens of low-income families and sent several to the hospital, including a mother and her three small children, who are still recovering from their injuries at the UF Health Shands Burn Center in Gainesville.
Since starting in Jacksonville in 2010, Ashley HomeStore's Hope to Dream™ program is responsible for donating over 90,000 beds nationally and nearly 3,000 beds locally. In 2016 Mayor Lenny Curry declared August 8, 2016 "Hope to Dream Day" in Jacksonville due to the program's impact to First Coast children. A portion of the proceeds from every mattress purchase at Ashley HomeStore helps to fund the program.
