VERONA, Italy, March 21, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A team of expert sommeliers and distinguished academic faculty, led by Chief Scientist Professor Attilio Scienza, will deliver a rigorous curriculum of lessons and masterclasses over five days. This year faculty member Sarah Heller MW will be joined by Italy's newly crowned Master of Wine Andrea Lonardi to deliver a curriculum that combines theory with practical tasting sessions to provide a comprehensive understanding of the contemporary Italian wine scene. Once again, a selection of top wine consortiums and associations will be on hand at this year's event to provide the Wine Ambassador candidates with firsthand knowledge of Italy's most important wine-producing regions as well as the opportunity to explore the full diversity of Italian wines.
Participants can expect to cover topics such as wine production techniques, viticulture, food and wine pairing, and the characteristics of key Italian wine denominations. Candidates who successfully complete the exam will receive the prestigious Italian Wine Ambassador title, recognizing their outstanding expertise in the field of Italian wine.
Once again this year, participants are set to visit the renowned Berlucchi winery in Franciacorta. This field trip promises an immersive experience into the world of winemaking and, in particular, provides a special opportunity for students to learn about the Classic method in an Italian context. Stevie Kim, managing partner of Vinitaly, commented "This behind-the-scenes tour and tasting is an important opportunity for future Italian Wine Ambassadors to meet producers and witness firsthand the intricacies behind the making of these important Italian wines. This visit is only possible thanks to the generous support of Berlucchi winery, our official Educational Supporter."
The highlight of this visit will be the presentation of an award and scholarship to Nairobi-based sommelier Nixon Munga. Mr Munga, an emerging talent in the Kenyan wine scene, is being recognized for his exceptional interest and dedication to wine education. The award and scholarship aim to further his skills and expertise on his journey to becoming an Italian Wine Ambassador.
