Vint Cerf, a "Father of the Internet," Joins Tesla Science Center's Efforts to Improve Lives through Science as Honoree of the Nonprofit's Virtual Gala
Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe (TSCW) will host its 2nd Annual Global Gala, "Light the Night through Science," with Honoree Vint Cerf to raise awareness and funds for TSCW programs that improve lives through science.
SHOREHAM, N.Y., Oct. 26, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe (TSCW) will host its 2nd Annual Global Gala, "Light the Night through Science," with Honoree Vint Cerf to raise awareness and funds for TSCW programs that improve lives through science. The Gala will be held online Friday, October 30, 2020 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm ET and features entertainment, including music by rock band They Might Be Giants; networking rooms; and online auction of tech and Tesla-related gifts, art, and memorabilia.
Vint Cerf is considered "One of the Fathers of the Internet" for his work in the design and implementation of the Internet's basic communications protocols. He pioneered computer technology and networking at IBM, MCI, and Google. Cerf is an advocate for the hearing impaired and STEAM education. As Gala Honoree, Cerf serves to highlight the importance of TSCW programs and the need to educate and empower people to solve modern challenges through innovation and collaboration.

Alessi explained that the pandemic created a critical need for virtual education and TSCW is meeting that need by providing online programs for all ages. These include virtual STEAM programs for youth and teens; a Virtual Education Certification program for teachers in partnership with New York Institute of Technology; Tesla Unwired worldwide webcasts on timely tech topics; global virtual events; and more.
Innovation and STEAM are also reflected in TSCW's Gala entertainment program which features music by renowned alternative rock band and science advocates They Might Be Giants; ArcAttack, who use Tesla coils and electricity to create music; the Mano Divina orchestral ensemble with master theremin player; celebrity magician Simon Pierro; and demonstrations by Greg Leyh, principal engineer of Lightning on Demand and builder of the world's largest Tesla coils.
