OSHAWA, Ontario, Jan. 22, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- During the Pandemic shut down, toy collector and author Brian Heiler chose to use his downtime to revive a lost genre of print publications.
Toy-Ventures, based on the popular YouTube series of the same name and explores playthings of the 1960s to the 1990s, with subjects ranging from Doctor Who to HR Pufnstuf.
"Like a lot of people, I got laid off and wanted a project to distract me," explains Heiler.
So Heiler looked to the simpler, before times and created Toy-Ventures magazine. Toy-Ventures, based on the popular YouTube series of the same name and explores playthings of the 1960s to the 1990s, with subjects ranging from Doctor Who to HR Pufnstuf.
Heiler soon discovered many other collectors longed for such a publication. "I crowdfunded the first issue and it was 100% funded in five hours, then I got flooded with requests from stores and distributors all over the world."
Toy-Ventures Issue One launched via crowdfunding and reached 100% of its goal on the first day.
"There is a very positive emotional response from my readers, I think seeing and reading about old childhood friends is just that much-needed piece of nostalgic comfort food that distracts many folks from a dreary year."
Toy-Ventures issue 2 launched this month and Heiler says issue 3 will arrive this March.
