Virginia Realtor Linda Thompson Helps Create the "Heart of the Village" in the Great Falls Grange Complex

GREAT FALLS, Va., Dec. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "The Heart of the Home" has always been tied to fond memories in the place where one lives. In Great Falls, VA, the community is taking this concept and re-inventing the 1929 historical buildings into "The Heart of the Village." The Grange Hall and the Great Falls School House were the locations for farmers' meetings and community gatherings back in the '30s through the '70s.
"Both buildings are now on the National Register of Historic Places," said Thompson, founder of The Thompson Team at Berkshire Hathaway Home Services. "Enhancing the small-town feel using the Grange Hall and the Great Falls School House will once again create a center for the community, where the arts, music, meetings, fairs, entertainment, civic and private activities will be available for residents of all ages. This will be our 'Heart of the Village.'"
Creating a "social anchor" to reconnect the long-time residents with the youth of Great Falls and make its heart beat again is the goal of the Great Falls Grange Foundation. Fairfax County Park Authority, who currently owns and manages both historical buildings, and Supervisor John Foust, want to lend both facilities back to the community.
"This is something the board of the Great Falls Grange Foundation has been dreaming of for a very long time," added Thompson, a member of the board. "This vision will allow us to interact and get to know each other better. We'll need to bring our resources, time, and effort together to make sure this succeeds. It's going to give us a sense that we are working together for something that we'll all benefit from, and it's worth the effort."
Being a part of the board and working out the bugs and issues that concern the community has been a rewarding experience for Thompson, who grew up in the community. "The skill sets I have mastered in real estate transfer seamlessly to the Great Falls Grange Foundation," she concluded. "I have worked with buyers and sellers in Northern Virginia for the past 34 years to find their dream home, or sell their current home, and transition to the next chapter in their lives. It's all about being in a community and creating 'The Heart of the Home.'"
