Richmond, VA (PRWEB) October 15, 2013 -- The Virginia Prosperity Project (VirginiaP2), the Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s non-partisan, voter education and GOTV campaign, released its sixth week of video candidate interviews with this week’s focus on transportation. The eight-part series focuses on major topics facing Virginia and offers the candidates’ responses in their own words to help Virginia voters easily compare the positions and ideas of each candidate.
VirginiaP2 also released a specialized set of Attorney General candidate questionnaire videos with responses from Mark Herring and Mark Obenshain on when to challenge or defend a law passed by the Virginia General Assembly and their philosophy on interpreting the law.
Key takeaways from the energy videos include:
Ken Cuccinelli - “The war on coal is a war on Virginia’s poor, because it drives up electricity prices.”
Terry McAuliffe - “Research will be the future to make sure we are creating new energy jobs and taking advantage of the technology we have to create new jobs in the energy field.”
Robert Sarvis - “The government should not be choosing which energy sources we invest in as a society. We should tie pollution to the cost of each resource and let the market decide.”
Along with the candidate videos VirginaP2 also released the results of its poll results on Virginia’s energy future at http://www.virginiap2.com.
“Access to affordable, reliable energy is a major factor in creating and retaining jobs in the Commonwealth,” said Ryan Dunn, Executive Director of VirginiaP2.
“The candidates discuss a wide range of issues affecting Virginia’s energy industry including coal, offshore drilling and emerging markets. How Virginia plans to meet Virginia’s growing energy needs is paramount to the overall competitiveness of the Commonwealth,” Dunn concluded.
VirginiaP2’s candidate questionnaire videos focus on eight specific topics ranging from business climate and sectors to healthcare. Comparing and contrasting the candidates, in their own words, will give Virginians an opportunity to focus on specific issues that impact their livelihood and prosperity.
The Virginia Prosperity Project (VA P2) is a nonpartisan, issue education and election information clearing house used by thousands of Virginia voters to help them play a more active and informed role in government and the political process. The Prosperity Project does not endorse candidates and does not tell voters how to vote.
