MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich., Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Virtu Venture Group, LLC, today announced the launch of a student-centered e-commerce learning venture built around Tay Dancy Vintage, an online and retail business where young entrepreneurs learn by making real decisions, serving real customers, and measuring real results.
The initiative brings together three forms of learning that are too often separated: academic instruction, supervised professional hands-on experience, and AI-assisted research and problem-solving. Students work alongside experienced business professionals while participating in the interconnected functions that make an entrepreneurial company succeed. It is a totally immersive experience from inventory acquisition, product research and pricing to photography, cataloging, social media, direct-to-consumer marketing, order fulfillment, financial analysis, software testing, and strategic growth.
Annabelle Smith's Entrepreneurship and Business Development Internship helps provide the model for the program. Rather than being assigned to one narrow department, Smith follows the full entrepreneurial cycle: recognizing an opportunity, researching it, acquiring or developing a product, bringing it to market, serving the customer, measuring the financial result, improving the process and helping the venture scale. Her work also includes evaluating new revenue streams and giving business-user feedback on technology designed to improve product cataloging, inventory management, and multi-channel e-commerce sales. "This experience lets me connect what I learn in school to decisions that have an immediate effect on an actual business," Smith said. "I am learning how marketing, finance, technology, and operations fit together. Then how to test an idea, learn from the result, and make the next decision better."
Students are supported through internship programs and educational relationships with Central Michigan University, Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, and Mid Michigan College (and others). The venture is designed to complement, not replace, university instruction by giving students a supervised environment in which to apply classroom concepts, develop career-ready skills and build a record of meaningful work. "The most valuable part is that our work does not disappear into a classroom exercise," said Emma Dias. "We create campaigns, communicate with customers, help solve operating problems and see what the numbers tell us.
The feedback is immediate, and that makes the learning stick. Plus, we can do well financially, which is important in this economic climate of rising educational costs." AI is incorporated as a learning amplifier. Students use advanced AI tools to accelerate research, compare alternatives, organize information, strengthen communications and test ideas, while professionals teach them to verify outputs, protect confidential information, recognize bias and use independent judgment. The goal is not simply to teach students how to prompt a tool; it is to help them become better thinkers, decision-makers, and responsible users of technology.
"Super Intelligence can give a young entrepreneur extraordinary reach, but only when it is paired with curiosity, judgment and accountability," said Ava Matteucci. "Here, students learn to question the answer, check the evidence, and then apply what they have learned to a real customer or business problem. At Tay Dancy Vintage, the upside for us is practically limitless." The program also gives students a genuine stake in the enterprise. Participating students share in profits, gain academic and practical experience, and then mentor newer students as their skills grow. Business professionals provide supervision, context, and accountability, while peer mentoring helps turn individual experience into an ongoing community of knowledge. After student profit participation and operating needs are met, the remaining program proceeds are directed to a scholarship fund for students pursuing degrees in business, marketing, fashion, entrepreneurship, communications, and computer science, as well as education and training for technology-oriented skilled trades. This reinvestment model is intended to make each sale part of a larger cycle: students learn, students earn, students teach, and the venture helps create opportunities for the next group of students.
"Young people should not have to wait until after graduation to find out how a business really works," said Bryan Fettig of Virtu Venture Group. "We want students to learn with real responsibility, use AI intelligently, share in the value they help create, and then turn around and help someone coming behind them. That is how an internship becomes an entrepreneurial community. With technology displacement, it is hard out there right now in the hiring world; things are not easy. This program will allow students to gain skills, help build a business, or advance faster in the hiring queue. Our desire is to create long-term positions for them as well." The approach reflects a broader shift toward career-integrated experiential learning: students develop communication, teamwork, technology, leadership, and analytical skills more deeply when they must apply them across functions and explain the reasoning behind their decisions. Mentorship, structured reflection, and measurable outcomes help convert day-to-day work into durable professional capability.
