TUCSON, Ariz., Feb. 22, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- New survey results from one of the web's leading all-remote job boards show working professionals' desire for remote work options hasn't slowed in 2022.
Founded in 2007, Virtual Vocations is a family-owned, 100% virtual company that has worked to connect jobseekers with legitimate remote job openings from expert-vetted employers for the last 15 years.
From Jan. 3–8, 2022, Virtual Vocations polled more than 380 working adults to learn more about what they want from their employers in the new year.
The results, released Monday, reveal the impact remote work can have on employees' overall job satisfaction and shed light on the influence the COVID-19 pandemic has had on both employed and unemployed workers and their desire for remote work options.
"Providing remote job options is critical for employers to remain competitive in 2022," said Virtual Vocations CEO and co-founder Laura Spawn.
Indeed, more than 40% of employed workers surveyed said they would consider leaving their current roles for a job that provided them the ability to work remotely. What's more, nearly 8 in 10 professionals (79.62%) who reported being unemployed at the time of the poll said remote work options remain among their top priorities as they evaluate future job opportunities.
More than half of respondents in both groups said they were most recently employed by a company that offered either work from home or hybrid work arrangements.
Respondents to the survey also weighed in on which employer-provided benefits were most valuable to them, both in their current roles and in their job searches. Among the most sought-after benefits were remote work arrangements, the ability to maintain a four-day workweek, and stipends to cover their home office or technology expenses.
As for why they want to work remotely, 1 in 4 respondents who were actively employed at the time of the poll said the primary benefit of being able to work from home is not having to worry about a lengthy commute.
More than 23% of those who reported being unemployed at the time of the survey said they're primarily driven to pursue remote work options in order to have more control over their day-to-day schedules.
COVID-19 has also had a major impact on how working professionals view their current employers and what they're looking for in new roles. The survey found:
- Nearly 1 in 5 employed workers (19.62%) said they lacked confidence in their employer's ability to create safe working conditions and prioritize employees' welfare amid the pandemic.
- More than 70% of unemployed workers rated a potential employer's response to the pandemic and their ability to create a safe working environment as "very important" to them as they weigh future job offers.
- Respondents in both groups said workers' health and well-being should be among employers' top priorities in 2022.
According to Spawn, it's clear that employers seeking to prioritize employee retention amid what has been dubbed the Great Resignation "must incorporate remote job options into their business models."
"Why? Employees are still willing to quit their jobs to find flexible, remote employment, and our data proves it," Spawn said.
Virtual Vocations' 2022 Job Satisfaction Survey polled 381 working adults, 58.16% of whom were employed at the time of the survey and 41.84% of whom reported being out of work.
