A new three-part group career coaching session from Virtual Vocations aims to help jobseekers feel confident going into one of the most nerve-wracking parts of the job hunt.

After getting a solid grasp on the interview process, jobseekers can move into the second of three coaching sessions, which hones in on steps to take before and during an interview to ensure success. This session covers:

  • Common questions HR managers and recruiters may pose to candidates in an interview setting;
  • How jobseekers can formulate clear, memorable responses that demonstrate to hiring companies they’re the right fit for the role; and
  • Tips for rehearsing answers ahead of time to ensure they sound natural and minimize pre-interview jitters.

“Learning to interview well is a key skill every jobseeker should develop to increase their chances of advancing in the hiring process,” Leyva says. “Be prepared to spend time practicing and improving your interview skills. Mastery doesn’t happen overnight.”

The third and final group coaching session of the series encourages jobseekers to apply what they’ve learned with an easy-to-follow checklist designed to help them prepare themselves—and their workspaces—for the big day, including tips for staging your interview space appropriately and professionally.

Her top tip for jobseekers gearing up for a virtual interview? “Know who you are professionally and be prepared to share the unique value you bring, as well as several examples that demonstrate that value,” Leyva advises.

“Be sure you understand the technology being used and how to present yourself well on video," she adds, "and make sure your surroundings are professional and support your personal brand to ensure a successful interview.”
