Dr. Eyal Zimlichman, Deputy Director General, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Innovation Officer at Sheba Medical Center, Tel HaShomer in Israel was featured as a guest speaker on December 1 during the IAC (Israeli American Council) 2018 National Conference at the Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida. Dr. Zimlichman, who is considered to be one of Israel’s visionary doctors within the realm of medical innovation, participated in a riveting panel discussion which focused on “The Future of Medicine.”
Sheba Medical Center, Israel’s national hospital, is at the epicenter of innovation in Israeli medicine, and Dr. Zimlichman is helping to lead the way with the hospital’s new ARC Innovation Center. ARC, which stands for Accelerate, Redesign, Collaborate, was conceptualized and launched by Dr. Zimlichman and aims to accelerate innovations that will redesign healthcare on an unprecedented global level.

The ARC Innovation Center is primarily focused on the emerging arena of digital health, which is highlighted by precision medicine, telemedicine, mobile health, big data and predictive analytics, rapidly introducing these advances into the market and upgrading patient care as quickly as possible.
During the IAC National Conference, Dr. Zimlichman discussed his revolutionary breakthroughs in futuristic medicine with fellow panelists Dr. Gil Blander, Chief Scientific Officer at InsideTracker and Dr. Ifat Rubin, Bejerano Director of Translational Research Programs at Harvard Medical School, and moderator Prof. Avi Almozlino, Chief of Neurology at Newton-Wellesly Hospital & IAC Board Member. The discussion attracted a standing room only crowd, as hundreds of conference participants gathered to hear from the renowned doctors.
Among the topics Dr. Zimlichman touched upon were the future role of the doctor, how telemedicine can revolutionize healthcare and the impact of out-of-the-box thinking in solving problems that affect both physical and mental health.
Dr. Zimlichman is by profession an internal medicine physician, a health care executive and a researcher. He holds an appointment at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School-affiliated Center for Patient Safety Research and Practice in Boston, Massachusetts, where he is conducting research on implementing technology to improve health care quality and patient safety. Dr. Zimlichman also served as an advisor to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and is a founding member of the International Academy of Quality and Safety in Health Care.
