VMS Software, Inc. Expands Software Services
Bolton, Massachusetts (PRWEB) September 21, 2017 -- VMS Software, Inc. (VSI) today announced that in response to customer demand, VSI is expanding its cross-platform services offerings worldwide. The effort will be led by Wayne Beeson, Director of Services.
“As VSI’s efforts to port OpenVMS to Intel x86-64 nears initial release in 2018, and as VSI accelerates direct customer engagements with the OpenVMS installed base, we are seeing a marked increase in customer demand for services solutions,” said Duane P. Harris, CEO of VMS Software. “Because a majority of VSI customers run OpenVMS in multi-platform environments, their service requests often include OpenVMS-specific as well as real interest in reassessing how our x86 port may impact their overall cross-platform architecture. I am therefore delighted that Wayne Beeson has agreed to lead VSI’s efforts to meet the demand for both OpenVMS-centric and other platform services.”
Wayne Beeson will continue to report to CEO, Duane Harris, as he coordinates the development and provisioning of service offerings with VSI’s Applications & Open Source Services team (Apps Team) — led by Brett Cameron — and with the VSI Professional Services Alliance’s contractor network (VPSA).
VSI expects to expand its services offerings in three main areas: hosting, consulting, and application services. For the first time, multi-platform hosting services will be made available to VSI customers, including co-location and cloud solutions. Furthermore, VSI expects to substantially expand consulting services, with the addition of remote management, performance monitoring, and migration services. Finally, in recognition of the predominance of custom OpenVMS applications, our Apps Team will provide workshops and labs to help customers assess, improve, port/upgrade, and maintain their custom applications. The Apps Team will also provide open source application porting and support services.

Wayne Beeson will lead business and contractual activities around services. Performance of the services will be provided by a combination of the Apps Team and third-party contractors under the auspices of the VPSA.
