Voyager HQ Acquires ATX Travel Tech Meetup; Launches Events in Austin, Texas
(PRWEB) March 07, 2019 -- ATX Travel Tech, Austin’s most popular travel technology Meetup group, has agreed on terms to be acquired by the New York City-based travel startup community Voyager HQ. Voyager HQ will kick off the Austin chapter of events, the company’s decentralized travel tech events series, during the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) festival.
The ATX Travel Tech Meetup has grown to an online community of more than 1,400 members since its creation in May 2017. The group was organized by Ana DeAlvare and Daniel Senyard, serial entrepreneur and current CEO of business travel startup Shep.
By starting it, the two looked to solve the excess of complexity and lack of community available to entrepreneurs that they experienced from founding two startups in the travel tech space. Through the Meetup, Senyard filled gaps in knowledge by conducting interviews with travel technology innovators and veterans, including the first CEO of Sabre and the ex-President of Travelocity Business.
The group is a natural fit for Voyager HQ, which was originally co-founded by travel entrepreneur and CEO of Fareportal, Sam S Jain, and works to connect their community of over 1,500 travel entrepreneurs worldwide with resources that include access to mentors, opportunities for corporate partnership and investment, and a tight-knit global community of fellow travel startup founders.
“We’re so excited to be partnering with Daniel and the ATX Travel Tech Meetup group in Austin,” said Voyager HQ’s Managing Director, John Matson. “The city is such a great hub for travel technology and Daniel and ATX Travel Tech have really galvanized the community.”
While Voyager HQ will take over logistics and coordination of the Meetup, Senyard will remain involved as an advisor and occasional co-host of Austin travel tech events. Voyager HQ has also appointed Daniela Pachon, a longtime Meetup member and co-founder of group travel management software Trip Loop, as the Event Director to run community on the ground in Austin.
“Having gotten to know John and Jenny from Voyager over the last few years, I’ve been very impressed at the community they’ve been able to build, both in New York and increasingly around the country,” Senyard said. “Ana and I created the Meetup to expand Austin’s travel tech network and knowledge, and so partnering with a group with such an expansive network only strengthens Austin’s position as a travel tech mecca!”
Voyager HQ will host the first event in Austin during the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) festival with Travel Launch, a full day event co-produced by Voyager HQ, Travel Massive, and Locale on March 10. Travel Launch will bring together travel entrepreneurs, investors, corporate partners and media to showcase the travel tech landscape in Austin with expert panel discussions, a Startup Showcase, and a pitch competition hosted by Voyager HQ.
