Novato Fit Body Boot Camp Owner Says Grand Opening of Her Fitness Boot Camp is the First Step Toward Her Goal of Helping Busy Women Change Their Health
Novato, CA (PRWEB) July 04, 2014 -- Melissa McMinn, owner of the new Novato Fit Body Boot Camp, thinks there’s a certain poetic significance in opening her new fitness boot camp in a recently revitalized space in downtown Novato.
“Our building and the area around 1st street has been rundown and neglected and is just now seeing a revitalization. The women I’m trying to reach are feeling rundown and have been neglecting their own health in favor of work and caring for their kids. I want to revitalize them.”
Novato Fit Body Boot Camp opened for business on July 1st and McMinn’s 21-Day Fat Furnace program is already nearly sold out. The program offers unlimited workouts for $47 and is McMinn’s way of introducing busy Marin women to an amazing way of getting fit. Regular group workout sessions will begin July 21st.
McMinn says she understands all too well that busy women are overscheduled and overstressed and feel they have little time or energy for working out.
“I spent six years working in the emergency room at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and I have three young kids,” she explains. “I know what stress is and I know how hard it is to try to stay healthy when you’re working hard and raising a family. But working out is a way of not only relieving stress but also making sure that you’re healthy enough and fit enough to be there for your kids.”
McMinn explains that an interest in nutrition and anatomy led her to go back to college and to consider a career in nursing. But the stress of working in the emergency room took a toll on her health and her body. “I learned that I was a serious stress eater and I finally joined a fitness boot camp to try to relieve some of that stress and get healthy,” she explains.
But it was an especially bad day at the ER that showed her nursing was not the right choice for her and also pointed her toward her true calling. “I went to the boot camp to work it off and a light suddenly went on,’ she says. “I realized I no longer wanted to work in a stressful environment giving people a temporary band aid on their health. Working out and getting fit is preventive medicine; it changes your health from the inside out.”
McMinn explains that the group environment and fun vibe of the boot camp provides busy women with the camaraderie and support they want, while the short, intense workouts give them the results they need without a heavy time commitment.
“I get how busy women are. I understand all too well how hard it is to make time for yourself. But you have to if you want to be there for your kids and also be a great role model of a healthy lifestyle for them,” she says.
McMinn is excited about the opening of her Novato Fit Body Boot Camp and the interest it’s already generated from local women.
“I am passionate about helping people lose weight, tone up, lower blood pressure, have the energy to run around with their kids, and fit in those skinny jeans all while working out in a supportive, non-stressful, fun environment.”
