Abenaki Helping Abenaki and Pine Street Inn Will Receive High Quality Proteins to Provide Nutritious Meals for the Hungry
TEWKSBURY, Mass., Nov. 28, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Walden Local Meat Co., a community-based, direct-to-consumer share program that hand-delivers high quality meat to members' doorsteps from farms across the Northeast, and their members have donated more than 2,700 pounds of meat to local New England food banks including Abenaki Helping Abenaki and Pine Street Inn, through its Thanksgiving member donation program. Each Thanksgiving season, members can purchase meat that is given directly to local nonprofits.
This year's donations are expected to help provide over 5,000 meals to those in need this winter. These donations are coming at a time when food insecurity is nearly doubling pre-pandemic times. Project Bread estimates that one in six households in Massachusetts are food insecure.
