The 2019 Book Club for Marketers Centered on Jonah Berger’s “Contagious” -- Sharing Marketing Tips for Creating Viral Content

Walker Sands, a full-service B2B marketing agency, hosted its fifth annual Just a Book Club for Marketers on November 6, 2019, at the American Writers Museum in Chicago. Walker Sands invited Dr. Jonah Berger, New York Times and the Wall Street Journal best-selling author of “Contagious” to conduct a discussion around creating viral content for Chicago-area marketers.

Following an introduction by Mike Santoro, President of Walker Sands, Berger discussed the value of contagious content. Using “Contagious,” as a starting point, Berger discussed the secret science behind word-of-mouth and social transmission, and shared the six basic principles for sparking popularity, gleaned from his 15 years researching behavioral science and how ideas diffuse.

“Contagious” reveals how to strategically create infectious content. Breaking down the process into actionable techniques, Berger leaves marketers with tools to consistently produce messages that offer value to their target audiences, and better yet, are worth sharing.
