OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Sept. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Walsworth Yearbooks launched a new contest that will help schools reach their yearbook goals. Yearbook staffs use many skills when creating a yearbook, including writing, interviewing, design, photography, budget and leadership. There are even national awards for staffs that produce exceptional yearbooks.
The Level Up contest encourages staffs to choose the areas where they want to improve and set goals. Contest winners will receive a $3,500, two-year prize package to help them meet those goals. To enter the Level Up contest, yearbook staffs must submit a short video telling how and why they want to improve their yearbook as well as what they are willing to do in order to level up their yearbook.
"Walsworth Yearbooks is a yearbook company. We are yearbook people. We provide the tools for schools to produce great yearbooks, prepare students for the future with valuable job skills and have some fun while they're doing it. This contest will put even more tools in the toolbox of the winning schools," Don Walsworth, president of Walsworth Yearbooks, said.
The prize package includes:
- Annual school visits from Mike Taylor, CJE, and/or Jim Jordan, both respected and well-known names in the yearbook field.
- Adviser tuition paid to Adviser Academy, a summer workshop just for advisers.
- Fees paid for adviser, editor(s)-in-chief and/or other editors to one of the many yearbook workshops around the country.
- Adviser tuition paid for Elite Weekend, a yearbook intensive session that helps schools improve their yearbook.
- Adviser registration fee paid for their choice of the JEA/NSPA or CSPA scholastic journalism convention.
- One set of the Yearbook Suite curriculum, adviser and student editions.
- One copy of Possibilities, an ideation book with 868 yearbook examples from 248 yearbooks across the country.
"We had 28 yearbooks win national yearbook awards last year. That's the largest percentage by market share of any yearbook company. We want to help even more schools meet their goals – whether that's winning national awards or improving photo captions – and our Level Up contest is a great way to do that," Alex Blackwell, Vice President of Marketing and Communications, said.
Contest entry ends Oct. 6, 2019. Two winners will be announced on Friday, Oct. 11, which is the final day of National Yearbook Week. Schools can enter at walsworthyearbooks.com/levelup. To learn more, read our blog or watch our video.
