SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In summer 2016, between his junior and senior years at the University of Rhode Island, Robbie Butler decided he'd continue his education after graduation by studying chiropractic at Palmer College's West campus. At the time, his dad had recently received chiropractic treatment while training for a third Ironman triathlon.
"I wasn't aware of this," says Butler, "So when I told him I was thinking of going to chiropractic school, his face lit up and he told me, 'I just had a great experience with chiropractic care!'"
Butler has earned several scholarships, including the Dr. William Gallagher Memorial Scholarship and the TruSpine Chiropractic Scholarship, an award sponsored by 2013 Palmer West alumnus Supreet Shah, D.C., CCSP®, who maintains a San Francisco-based practice.
"TruSpine strives to give back to the profession by playing a larger role in the development of young, future chiropractors," said Dr. Shah. "Success takes hard work, but it also requires sharp business skills – and, if TruSpine can sponsor a scholarship for students, they can focus on what is important."
"When alumni give back to the College, or sponsor individual awards, they create opportunities that many students, such as me, otherwise wouldn't be able to experience," says Butler, noting his TruSpine scholarship will enable him to attend the 2018 ACA Sports Council Symposium – where he plans to pursue a National SACA Sports Council position.
Butler is looking forward to where his chiropractic journey will take him and hopes his positive attitude and desire to help will spread to others.
"I find happiness in life through positivity. Attitude is contagious and helping make someone's day more positive can have incalculable effects. I spend my energy like a pack of gum. I try to always be ready to hand it out, so when the time comes when I'm out there's someone else who might have a piece of their own to share.
"I appreciate and am inspired by our alumni support – and I absolutely plan to give back when I graduate, to help create a similar pathway for the generation of Palmer students who follow me!"
