West Cancer Center Announces 2nd Annual Ride to Fight On
Memphis, Tenn. (PRWEB) July 31, 2015 -- The 2nd annual Ride to Fight On will start and end near the FedExForum at Robert Church Park in Downtown Memphis on October 3, 2015. The Ride to Fight On is a cycling fundraiser that benefits the West Cancer Center, a nonprofit partnership focused on cancer research between Methodist Healthcare, The West Clinic and The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. A health and wellness festival featuring food, music, and education will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Robert R. Church Park and is open to the public.
“The inaugural Ride to Fight On was a tremendous success raising over $400,000 for cancer research and the West Cancer Center. We know this year the Ride to Fight On will raise even more funds for cancer research as well as provide a great opportunity for cyclists to enjoy a wonderful ride through Memphis, not to mention everyone is invited to enjoy the festivities including a health, education, and wellness expo Downtown in Robert R. Church Park,” said Dr. Lee Schwartzberg of the West Cancer Center.
The Ride to Fight On offers cycling routes from 15, 40, 62, and 100 miles for all levels of cyclists to enjoy. An added component this year are optional time challenges for the century ride or 100-mile route where those completing 100 miles in four-and-a-half or five hours will receive a custom belt buckle. Cyclists, volunteers, and supporters may register to participate in the Ride to Fight On as well as become a fundraiser for the Ride to Fight On through the web site http://www.ridetofighton.com.
Registration fees for adult riders are $55, 12-17 year old riders may register for $40, virtual riders registration is $25, and Cheer Squad supporters may register for $35. All registrants may choose to become fundraisers and all registration categories include official Ride to Fight On merchandise and other incentives for signing up.
The Ride to Fight On official event jerseys were designed by cancer survivor and Memphis artist Michael P. Maness and features prominent and iconic Memphis music images. The official ride jersey includes original art by Maness featuring the late B.B. King, Sun Studios, Gibson guitars, The Orpheum, Ardent Studios, and the Memphis skyline. A special fundraising jersey licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises features Elvis Presley. Jerseys are available for purchase at http://www.ridetofighton.com or participants that raise $500 or more for West Cancer Center receive a complimentary jersey.
“Last year we had riders from 25 states and three countries represented so the Ride to Fight On is not only a great event for Memphians, but it actually introduces our great city to out of town visitors as well.
