Westminster Fit Body Boot Camp Celebrates Successful 1,000lb Meltdown Challenge By Donating 100% of the Proceeds to Local Food Banks
Westminster, VT (PRWEB) January 31, 2014 -- Westminster Fit Body Boot Camp recently finished its 28-day community fitness event called the 1,000 Meltdown Challenge and to celebrate its success, the boot camp is donating 100% of the proceeds to the local food banks, Our Drop In Center and the Fall Mountain Food Shelf.
The goal of the 1000lb Meltdown Challenge was to bring the community together to lose weight, get in shape, and support a local cause. Lisa Dumont, owner of the Westminster Fit Body Boot Camp, says she is thrilled that her boot camp was able to raise over a little over $1,000 for each charity and hopes to make the challenge an annual event.
She says, "The 1000 lb Meltdown Challenge was such a great way to not only reach out and support our community members in making their health a priority, but also raise awareness and money for local food shelters during the difficult holiday season. It was a win-win situation for all, and I look forward to making this charity drive an annual event.”
Director of the Fall Mountain Food Shelf, Mary Lou Huffling, says she is more than grateful for the funds that the Westminster Fit Body Boot Camp has been able to collect because it will go a long way to help many families. Providing nutritious meals for those in need, the Fall Mountain Foodshelf is not federally or state supported so they rely on the community for help with funding.
Huffling states, “I was very excited when Westminster Fit Body Boot Camp reached out to support our organization because there is a need for our services now more than ever before. The money will not only provide food for the families and elderly people we help, it will also help us purchase medications and pay bills. This donation will touch a lot of lives.”
Also grateful for Westminster Fit Body Boot Camp’s support is local daytime shelter and food bank, Our Place Drop In Center, whose mission is to help those in need by offering a hot meal, nutrition education, and other services free of charge.
Lisa Pitcher, Executive Director for Our Place Drop In Center, says, “I was happy to know that Lisa [owner of Westminster Fit Body Boot Camp] chose us and our neighbors at Fall Mountain Food Shelf as her charity for this fitness challenge fundraiser because she’s very dedicated to helping people meet their weight loss goals. This donation will help us to do more than just provide healthy meals, it will help us purchase other supplies and pay bills.”
This Westminster personal training center is located at 5983 US-5 Westminster, Vermont, 05158 and is opened six days a week, Monday through Saturday, with multiple morning and evening session times to accommodate the busy lives of the community.
