2026-2027 IRM Navigator Vendor Compass for GRC evaluates 33 technology and services providers in a GRC segment forecast to grow from $17.2 billion in 2026 to $35.8 billion in 2033
ATLANTA, Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- AI agents that execute compliance work are now in production at customers of a few governance, risk and compliance (GRC) providers, but no provider yet shows agents executing across all four GRC solution areas with independent verification, according to a new report from Wheelhouse Advisors®.
Wheelhouse, a global independent research and advisory firm focused exclusively on integrated risk management (IRM), reports the finding in the 2026-2027 IRM Navigator™ Vendor Compass for Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), which evaluates 33 providers drawn from the IRM50, Wheelhouse's annual index of the 50 most influential technology and services providers in IRM, published in the 2026 IRM Navigator Viewpoint Report.
The report positions GRC as the verification system of IRM across four solution areas: Regulatory Compliance, Ethics and Conduct, Internal Audit, and Policies and Procedures. The finding turns on the difference between two terms. Wheelhouse defines Agentic GRC as AI agents governing compliance workflows, such as gathering evidence, executing control tests, mapping obligations, and triaging cases. Autonomous IRM is agents operating across the full Performance, Resilience, Assurance, and Compliance architecture with independent verification.
"Agents have begun to do some of the proving in GRC, though most still assist while people verify, and the question that matters is who proves the agents," said John A. Wheeler, founder and CEO of Wheelhouse Advisors. "Before buying on an autonomy claim, ask to see the agent run at a named customer, and ask who checks its work."
Wheelhouse sizes the GRC segment, including technology and related services, at $17.2 billion in 2026, growing to $35.8 billion in 2033, a compound annual growth rate of 11.1 percent. GRC is the second-largest of the four IRM segments, alongside enterprise risk management (ERM), operational risk management (ORM), and technology risk management (TRM), within a total IRM market of $69.7 billion in 2026 and $159.4 billion in 2033.
The ten emerging providers outside the IRM50 reviewed in the report's VC Sonar section fall short of the same standard. Six providers are placed in the top tier as Integrators, 12 as Accelerators, and 15 as Pace Setters, and nine services providers appear on a segment Vendor Compass for the first time. The providers profiled are listed at the end of this release.
Providers are placed in three tiers on a combined score weighted 60 percent to Solution Coverage and 40 percent to Level of Integration. Every placement was re-validated against evidence dated September 2025 through October 2026, and no 2025 placement was carried forward. Providers had no formal input into scoring or tier assignment. Wheelhouse may have commercial research licensing relationships with providers covered in its research.
The 2026 IRM Navigator Viewpoint Report (July 2026) named Archer (GRC), Diligent (ERM), Riskonnect (ORM), and ServiceNow (TRM) as 2026-2027 Technology Market Leaders, and PwC (Assurance and Compliance) and Accenture (Performance and Resilience) as Services Market Leaders. Market Leader designations are editorial determinations by Wheelhouse and are not endorsements.
