WhitePages.us.org is going to rebrand their social media pages and blog as tools to help consumers become educated about how scam artists work, the company said yesterday.

“We've been thinking a good deal about our social media efforts,” a WhitePages.us.org spokesman said. “What we've noticed is that the posts that have talked about scam artists have gotten the most hits and feedback. This has told us that consumers are looking to learn how to avoid becoming scam victims. So it makes sense for us to rebrand our social media in a way that represents those interests. We want to help them fight scam artists.”

Each week from now on. the Facebook and Twitter feeds for WhitePages.us.org will feature an article outlining how a given scam works and how to avoid it. The same will be done on their company blog, he said.

“There are many different types of scams out there, each with different red flags,” he said. “We can help consumers realize what those red flags are, and then know what to do when confronted by them. We think this will go a long way in minimizing the success rate of scam artists.”

WhitePages.us.org will also encourage consumers to contact them with their own stories about becoming scam victims, he said.

“Working together with our customers, we believe that we can do a great deal to fight scam artists,” he said. “Nobody should have to become a victim.”
