Wild River Technology, the leading supplier of signal integrity measurement and optimization test fixtures for high-speed channels at data rates of up to 224G, announced today the availability of a new 56G intersymbol interference (ISI) loss modeling platform. Dubbed ISI-56, the platform upgrades the current ISI-32 loss modeling platform from Wild River Technology with enhanced accuracy and modeling for SerDes channels operating at 56G. ISI-56 is the first loss modeling platform to meet the stringent requirements of the IEEE P370 specification, which addresses items such as recommended design of signal integrity test fixtures and methods and processes for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of measured data for signals with frequency content to 50 GHz. This test fixture meets the highest IEEE P370 Class A signal integrity requirements.

ISI is a form of signal distortion in which one symbol, or data element, interferes with subsequent symbols. This interference creates very defined time-domain jitter. The platform delivers true ISI modeling with a clean insertion loss and industry-leading signal integrity. S-parameter models are provided to support simulation analysis from popular EDA vendor tools.

The ISI-56 platform mimics a pure-loss backplane with very low return loss and no resonance due to material weave. The platform can be combined with Wild River Technology’s XTALK-32 platform to establish crosstalk and/or return loss degradation. Designers can test the reach of SerDes devices with the ISI-56 platform and create a very accurate design of experiment (DOE) characterization. Both platforms, used in concert, are EDA friendly and include quality-tested, measured S-parameter models for also emulating a backplane channel. Wild River Technology also provides channel operating margin (COM) metrics for all serial link test platforms like the ISI-56.
