WINDMILLS 2019 International Dance Festival
The Fourth Annual WINDMILLS International Dance Festival will feature European dance groups with roots from from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Macedonia, Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Transylvania, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden in the Grand Ballroom at Baltimore's Lithuanian Hall. An International Folk-Dance Workshop will follow the performances which is open to the public.
BALTIMORE, March 8, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Energetic Dancing, Beautiful Costumes, and Folk Dancers with roots from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Macedonia, Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Transylvania, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden…This is what you will see at the Fourth Annual WINDMILLS International Dance Festival on Saturday, March 30 from 1:00 – 5:30 PM in the Grand Ballroom of the Lithuanian Hall in Baltimore, MD! In addition, and new this year, an International Folk-Dance Workshop will follow the performances beginning at 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the same location.
The fourth annual Windmills International Folk-Dance Festival will feature creative performances by European dance groups dancing traditional dances from Northern, Eastern and Central Europe. The dance performers are from the Maryland and Washington DC region and represent Lithuania (Malunas Dance Group), Latvia (Namejs), Estonia (Pillelkaar Washington DC), Austria, Germany, Switzerland (Alpine Dancers), Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden (Nordic Dancers of Washington DC), Hungary (Tisza Ensemble), Ukraine, Polish, Macedonia, Gypsy (Carpathia Folk Dance Ensemble), and Russia (Kalinka Dance Ensemble of Baltimore).
The audience get to participate in a workshop led by the directors and choreographers of the different performing groups after the show. The workshop is free and open to the public!
Egle Baublyte-Noeth, the event originator and coordinator, explained, "This Festival was created to integrate, preserve and promote Baltimore and D.C 's rich cultural heritage by bringing together these different and diverse dance groups. The focus is to bring harmony through dance and to place Baltimore on the map as an exhibition place for artistic folk-dance. We hope to expand this event to include more than European folk-dance groups but traditional dance from all over the world."
Tickets are $20 for Adult; $18 for Seniors. Children 12 and under are free. (Workshop is free to public. Doors open at 5:30 pm) Tickets for the performance can be purchased in advance at EventBrite
Delicious Eastern European food such as Cepelinai, Kugelis, Sakotis, etc. will be available for purchase. Also, a cash bar will be offering a wide variety of European beer and liquor and non-alcoholic drinks. The Lithuanian History Museum and Library will be open during event hours.
The Lithuanian Hall address is 851 Hollins St, Baltimore, MD 21201. Street parking is very limited, but garage parking is available in the UM Biopark Garage at 1 N Poppleton St (at the corner of N. Poppleton St and Baltimore St and 2 blocks from the Hall) and is recommended.
