Window Genie Opens Franchise in Grand Rapids
Grand Rapids, MI (PRWEB) June 06, 2017 -- Window Genie announces the grand opening of its newest location in Grand Rapids on June 5th. Ron Kuhn will be the owner/operator. Window Genie is a national home service franchise specializing in residential and light commercial window cleaning, window tinting, pressure washing, gutter cleaning and more. Window Genie of Grand Rapids will serve the western communities from Wyoming to Grand Haven, down through Holland.
Before purchasing a Window Genie franchise, Kuhn spent many years as a business owner running a Quiznos sub franchise while also running a process improvement and efficiency consulting company. “Even when the work was tough, being my own boss made it all worthwhile,” Kuhn said. “Being able to be in control of your own destiny, and make the big decisions that truly impacted the success of the business as a whole was the best part to me.”
When his partner in the consulting company left in 2008, Kuhn took on more responsibility to keep the operations going. He sold the Quiznos franchise in 2009, and focused on the consulting company full-time. “After the financial crisis in 2008, I had to travel a lot to find enough clients in need of our services,” Kuhn said. “I still enjoyed what I was doing, but it was hard to justify all the travel needed just to stay afloat. So, in 2013 when I was offered a job I couldn’t refuse, the consulting company closed.”
Two years into that job, Kuhn was downsized. “They called me back two weeks later asking if I’d like my job back, and I said no. It was a blessing in disguise, because it forced me to reflect and realize that business ownership was truly what I needed to do to be happy.” According to the U.S. Census Bureau, about one in every 10 Americans is self-employed, equaling about 14.6 million people in the U.S.
During a period of, “soul searching,” as he described it, Kuhn got connected to franchise consultant Mark Pasma of The You Network. Together they were able to determine what Kuhn’s strengths, weaknesses, interests and goals were. “For some reason, I had an idea that all franchises were retail type businesses,” Kuhn said. “Working with Mark was so eye opening because I was able to step outside my preconceived notions of business and realized a service business would give me the ability to scale and build the business faster without the burden of expensive overhead or inventory. Working from home while offering multiple services that I know are in demand excites me.”
