VERONA, Italy, Nov. 30, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- During Veronafiere and Vinitaly's annual wine2wine Business Forum (November 7-8 2022), Wine Spectator Senior Editors Bruce Sanderson and Alison Napjus announced the OperaWine 2023 line-up of Italian wine producers chosen by the American wine magazine. There are 130 wineries for the 2023 edition as in 2022, compared to 186 in 2021's special 10th anniversary edition, 103 in 2019, and 107 in 2018. The selected producers will be pouring their wines during Vinitaly's exclusive gala, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday April 1st, 2023. The full list of Italian wine producers selected by Wine Spectator is available below and at the following link: https://vinitalyinternational.com/vincitori-operawine-2023/. OperaWine is the only tasting event that Wine Spectator organizes outside the United States.
At the end of the first day of wine2wine Business Forum, attendees gathered in the main auditorium for the official announcement of the OperaWine 2023 selected producers. Stevie Kim opened proceedings with Maurizio Danese and Wine Spectator's senior editors Bruce Sanderson and Alison Napjus, then called on stage the selected producers. In this year's edition, Wine Spectator featured 10 new producers who will pour their wines for the first time at OperaWine 2023 and 10 wineries that will be returning to the event after a hiatus of one year. In her opening speech at wine2wine Business Forum, Alison Napjus commented on the 12th anniversary of OperaWine: «This has been a wonderful collaboration between Wine Spectator and Veronafiere. It's become a signature event at Vinitaly.»
After the announcement, producers were called on stage to pose for the traditional group photograph. In another session at wine2wine Business Forum, Sanderson and Napjus also answered some FAQs and took questions from the audience. Topics ranged from wine submission procedures to Wine Spectator's tasting method and editorial coverage. Guests were especially interested in how the wine producers are chosen and what is the process behind the selection and tasting of the wines.
