NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 4, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Historic Faubourg Tremé Association (HFTA) event takes place on Saturday, October 5, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Augustine Church, 1210 Governor Nicholls Street, New Orleans, LA., in the heart of the Tremé. The Tremé Fall Festival is produced by the HFTA to benefit the many cultural destinations found within historic Tremé. It is free and open to the public.

Last year's HFTA Tremé Fall Festival benefitted St. Augustine Church, founded in 1841 as a testament to love and friendship of all races, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Slave. Proceeds from the 2018 festival are currently being used to paint the historic church's exterior and perform much-needed building repairs. The HFTA was founded in 2006, after Hurricane Katrina, to support the architecture, culture, and history of the Tremé. It is dedicated to preserving the culture of the African-American ancestors who made the Tremé the vibrant community that created the music called Jazz. Its vision is a Tremé with thriving commercial corridors along Basin, North Claiborne, Rampart, and St. Bernard Avenue that showcase Tremé's rich live music, visual arts, and performing arts culture.
In addition to supporting the HFTA Tremé Fall Festival, the Witry Collective was recently recognized by The Gambit in the Best of New Orleans Reader Poll for the 9th year in a row. Additionally, Witry Collective team member Josh Walther, co-owner, received an award for Excellence in Residential Real Estate from New Orleans City Business.
