Women of Global Change welcomes a New Chapter President, Kathleen Ilagan, a chemical engineer, who will continue the work of her predecessor, Lovanne Gallo, in their mission to create sustainable business development in the country with their Ocean Clean Up and Light Up the World campaigns.
QUEZON CITY, Philippines, Feb. 28, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Women of Global Change (WGC) Philippines celebrates the appointment of their new chapter president, Kathleen Ilagan. The organization, local government officials, and business leaders come together to welcome and support the new president as she continues the work that the Chapter had started while Lovanne Gallo was past president.
Ilagan is a chemical engineer, a well-respected businesswoman in sales, and an environmental sustainability advocate who has been a member of WGC. As the new chapter president, she will continue to lead the Clean Up the Ocean project, which focuses on reducing plastic waste in the country's bodies of water. The collected trash will be given to the "Aling Titindera Project", supporting local women earning extra money. Some of the collected trash will also be used for art exhibits.
Additionally, Kat will be leading the solar mission to Light Up the World, providing sustainable and renewable energy solutions to rural communities. WGC Philippines is raising funds to continue to light over 150 homes in villages.
WGC Philippines is a leading organization in environmentally friendly renewable and sustainable business development. They have been working towards empowering women to become agents of change in their communities, by providing training, mentorship, and access to resources. They have previously worked with local police departments, colleges and many businesses to facilitate their environmental clean-ups and solar power projects.
One of the recent initiatives of the organization is to use recycled materials to create clothing and purses. The recycled fashion project aims to promote sustainable and eco-friendly fashion in the country, while also raising awareness of the importance of reducing waste and promoting environmental conservation.
Kat Ilagan expressed her gratitude and commitment to the organization and its goals as she takes on the role of Chapter President, the chapter is still looking for board members and active participants in the chapter.
