Women's Business Council - Southwest Goes Virtual with Major Event for Women-Owned Businesses
The Women's Business Council - Southwest (WBCS), known for its robust programs, education, and networking events for women-owned businesses, has moved its largest event, Connections to Contracts, to a virtual setting on September 10th and 11th. The two-day event, held each morning, will feature networking, corporate "roundtable" procurement discussions, a c-suite executive keynote address, discussions on corporate supply chains with Tier 1 suppliers, and exhibitor booths.
DALLAS, Sept. 4, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Women's Business Council – Southwest (WBCS), known for its robust programs, education, and networking events for women-owned businesses, has moved its largest event, Connections to Contracts, to a virtual setting on September 10th and 11th. The two-day event, held each morning, will feature networking, corporate "roundtable" procurement discussions, a c-suite executive keynote address, discussions on corporate supply chains with Tier 1 suppliers, and exhibitor booths.
"With the current circumstances, it was important that we still hold this event and adapt it to the new virtual space," said WBCS President and CEO, Debbie Hurst. "This annual program provides women business owners with valuable connections to corporate and government opportunities that are critical to growing their businesses, especially in these times, and we were determined to keep those connections and relationships growing."
When considering the virtual space, WBCS chose a platform that would be able to provide both group and individual networking opportunities for its members. During the two-day event, there will be opportunities for both small group networking and one-on-one networking, in addition to the corporate-led "roundtable" discussions. Over 30 major corporations will be in attendance, including the title sponsor, Toyota.
"It's important for Toyota to be involved and connect with women-owned businesses virtually when we are unable to do so in person," explains Joe Mossinger, Senior Manager Strategic Sourcing at Toyota. "During our roundtable discussion, we will explain how to do business with Toyota and the best way to get connected to the supply chain. We are also pleased to have our Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer, Bonnie Clinton, give the keynote address on being nimble, innovative, and inclusive in business."
